I hate TVs In Vehicles!

I have to get this off my chest.

I CAN NOT STAND SEEING TVS IN CARS!!!

I can understand turning on a TV for your child's entertainment during a road trip that takes AT LEAST AN HOUR. But popping on a DVD as you take a 15 minute jaunt to school at 7:30? Or make a 10 minute drive to the store?

Really? Tell your children to look out the window. Ask them to find "punch-buggies" or heaven forbid play an educational game! Can you see something that starts with the letter P? Play the opposite game, or sing a silly song.

It's almost a right of passage for children to play "I spy" or sing some annoying song. You can even let them ride in silence. Let them be alone with their own thoughts for a few moments. Or keep a book or comic in the car for them to read.

Now if Mom has a bad headache and just needs some peace and quiet I can understand putting it on for a quick trip on that rare occasion but for those people that use them they do it so they don't have to be bothered. And if you have to put on a dvd how about something educational? Heck even Sesame Street is better then Yu-Gi-O. Or get yourself a CD you and your kids can all sing to!

It is outrageous to put on a TV in the car just so you don't have to deal with your children on a quick drive. They get enough tv from home and everywhere else. Let them look out the window and see the world. It may not be as exciting as watching Cars at first but it is better in the long run.

(And for the moms I have offended in this Sorry but I can't change the way I feel about this.)

Surprise!!!

Today today was all about surprises.

I woke up this morning to find out that the hot water heater has gone out... SURPRISE!!! So I rushed the girls to grandma's house so I could at least shower...Surprise!!! Then soon after arriving at the dentists office I am told that the dentists evaluation form last week was incorrect and B would be needing even more crap done... so I get to pay more...SURPRISE!!! The Girl Scout craft that we were going to try to do is just not working how it should so we basically wasted money on useless craft supplies...SURPRISE!!! So now we have to not only come up with another craft but also but the supplies to do it...SURPRISE!!! Upon coming home I find out the water heater can't be fixed it has to be replaced...SURPRISE!!!

And I thought it couldn't get any better then boiling water to brush my hair!

But per my New Years Resolution I will not let this get me down and tomorrow is a new day and a day off for the kids. I just have to make sure it's better then today... cold shower or not.

Stupid Grounhog, Stupid Shadow, Stupid Winter

So that darn groundhog saw his shadow so we are having 6 more weeks of winter. And if the weather the last few days is any indicator they will be dreary and wet too.

It's February!!!

I love new months. I don't know why but it always feels like a new start. Almost like New Years on a smaller scale. It's a chance to say "Ok, I know I didn't work out last month but this month I will," and even if you don't you know you can try again next month.

Another thing I love about new months is finding all the goofy and crazy and little known holidays.

February is American Heart Month, International Friendship Month, National Snack Food Month, Spunky Old Broads Month, and Youth Leadership Month.

The First Week of February is International Snow Sculpting Week
The Second Week of February is Celebration of Love Week
The Third Week of February is Love Your Pet Week
The Fourth Week of February is American Crossword Puzzle Week

February 5th is National Wear Red Day
February 11th is Make a Friend Day
February 14th is St. Valentine's Day
February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day
February 20th is Hoodie-Hoo Day (You are supposed to go outside and shout "Hoodie-Hoo!" to scare away Winter and make way for Spring!)
February 26th is Tell a Fairy Tale Day

So just for fun I try to participate in some way each day. The kids get a kick out of sharing with their friends that they are celebrating some unknown holiday and then their friends tell their parents and the fun goes on.
